"Hi, my name is Betsy. I am in my 8th year of teaching. I have experience teaching children 3-5 years old who have special needs and students Kindergarten through 5th grade with both special needs and without. My license allows me to teach students from birth to 12th grade with special needs and K-5 without special needs.

I love teaching reading, phonics, spelling and writing but also believe math has so many important life skills and enjoy teaching math and relating it to the child's life. My specialty is helping my students find purpose and reason behind what they are learning so they develop an intrinsic desire for learning. I have experience with sports as well. I have coached volleyball, basketball, tennis and track. I have experience in dance and am currently in the process of getting my Yoga Teacher certification as well.

I have an uncanny ability to help children understand the purpose for learning math and helping them relate the lessons they are learning to their everyday life.

I love finding new stories for students to read that relate to their life, discussing the stories and applying it to different scenarios so that students learn how to learn from reading.

I have worked with children with special needs moderate to severe for 8+ years and am always full of new ideas to help my students learn.
