"My name is Betty and I am a graduate from Wells College. I received my B.A. in Public Policy with a minor in Secondary Education. I did my student teaching in high school and middle school history. I took state certification tests and am awaiting results. I plan to attend grad school for literacy with the recent push for reading in New York State and nationally it is important to focus upon reading. From my student teaching experience, I have noticed that the problem with the reading of history and other subjects is a lack of comprehension skills in order to retain information. My tutoring would encompass multiple comprehension strategies based upon the individual student's learning style. I feel all students learn differently and by fostering that comprehension becomes easier.
