"Hello, I'm your tutor, Bilal. I started tutoring my classmates around the end of middle school in 8th grade circa 2020 and currently tutor for a local company in my hometown where I have been tutoring since September 2023 in Pre-Algebra, Algebra Basics, and Biology. I mostly tutor high school underclassmen or older middle schoolers in person. However, I also tutor a handful of students online, mainly via Khan Academy.
I tend to cater toward AP Students with my tutoring, as I took a LOT of APs in high school and have detailed notes, study guides, and practice homework assignments that I can use to tutor students. I tend to gravitate more toward Algebraic Math, since I've been able to pick up a few tricks to help students understand Algebra's twisted techniques in an understandable way.
This comes from a wealth of knowledge in my chosen subjects, as I received 5s in AP Euro, APUSH, AP Lit, and AP Lang. I also received a 4 in AP Chem, AP U.S. Gov, and AP Stats. Furthermore, I had all A's in Math until AP Calculus BC. I graduated from Glenbard East High School in May 2024 with an overall GPA of 3.6, and I am currently attending College of DuPage.
In addition to tutoring, I also hold a Paraprofessional Educator License. I spent a year working at a local high school as a Multilingual Teaching Assistant, where I helped newcomer students, many of whom had just arrived in the U.S., overcome the language barrier in their classes. I translated lessons in real time, mainly in STEM subjects and history, to make sure students didn’t fall behind simply because of the language gap.
I have a more laid-back approach in teaching students; I try to explain things clearly and casually, and I relate to them on their level. Students often open up more when they feel like they’re learning from a peer instead of an overbearing instructor. That said, I always keep things professional; especially when students start getting a little too lax." less...
