I graduated magna cum laude from my Bachelor's Degree in May 2023 and I completed my Master of Arts in Teaching in December 2023. I have experience in classroom teaching and small group online tutoring, and I focus on providing personalized instruction to increase student confidence. I am certified to teach K-12, so although my studies and experience focused on secondary education for high school students, I am happy and prepared to teach the little ones as well! I have experience in teaching students with high-incidence learning disabilities such as ADHD, ADD, and Autism, and I have seen that the most effective classroom practices are always the ones the student best responds to. My approach evolves with the student so that I am consistently providing instruction and assessment that is engaging and effective. As the student progresses in knowledge and skill, I will retain techniques that are effective for the student and modify them so they continue to be engaging for the student. For example, if I have a kinesthetic learner, I would assign different hand signals to identify different literary devices. As the student masters these initial devices, I will continue to incorporate physical representations of new knowledge that expand on their kinesthetic learning. For an elementary school student, this may look like a jumping jack when we see a predicate. For a high schooler, this may be jazz hands when they identify a character going into a monologue. This approach keeps learning exciting and new, and by modifying it to each student's learning style, I can increase their confidence in that area.
