"Hi there!

Basically, I know how the brain learns. I studied neuroscience at UT, and this sets me apart from most MCAT tutors. If you want to cram a mountain of knowledge into your head (like for the MCAT), then team up with someone who understands the brain!

Why Pick Me:

Back in Austin, getting ready for the MCAT felt daunting. I had studied neuroscience (how learning, memory, and practice really work), so I made a study routine that works with the brain. You only need to do a few things right to get a great score. That approach got me a 524 on the MCAT (100th percentile).

My Approach:

Lots of courses out there don’t make sense. They use tactics based on bad science and brain myths, or they bury you in unnecessary rules. I use a simpler approach based on two principles of neuroscience:

1. Everyone learns the same way at a deep level. We build knowledge by reusing pathways in our brain. A cycle of learning, forgetting, and learning again. This digs information into your brain like a river carving a canyon.

That means... You must space out your repetition to forget and relearn things more than once.

2. You only get better at the exact thing you practice. Most painters can’t sculpt, and most F1 drivers can't fly a plane.

That means... To answer MCAT questions, you have to practice answering questions. Stop practicing the wrong thing (books, videos, study guides).

That means... To know a concept on the fly, you have to practice explaining it from memory. With one hint, could you explain the whole subject? Stop practicing the wrong thing (most flashcards / Anki decks just give you a definition and ask you for the word).

Qualifications and Expertise:

I specialize in biology and biochemistry. A Neuroscience + Biochemistry double major from UT and four years of medical school at A&M help me understand how this works in the human body. I’ve been a Biostats TA, an MCAT tutor with Jack Westin, and worked in neuroscience and epidemiology labs (I did NOT blow up the centrifuge)." less...
