"Hello! My name is Jolie. I recently graduated from the University of Virginia with a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry and Phi Beta Kappa honors. I also obtained an American Chemical Society Certification for biochemical research and the American Society for Biochemistry and Molecular Biology Certification demonstrating Mastery of Core Concepts. As an aspiring physician, I have a strong background in the sciences including biology, organic chemistry, biochemistry, and physics as well as a passion for math including algebra, geometry, and calculus. During college, I was inspired by my professors' love for sharing their knowledge with others and teaching students in an engaging, enjoyable way. As a result, I worked as a teaching assistant for two biochemistry courses in the University of Virginia Chemistry Department. I collaborated with the professor to teach fellow aspiring medical students the foundations of metabolism, enzyme kinetics, molecular biology, and other areas crucial to their future careers in medicine. As a teaching assistant, I held discussion sections weekly where I helped guide my students through practice problems and one-on-one office hours to explain the content further. I also graded exams and gave my students feedback on their work. I am passionate about helping students learn and look forward to working with you! Please feel free to reach out with any questions." less...
