"Hi, I'm Sara! I am a rising junior at the University of Texas at Austin majoring in biology on the pre-dental track. I’ve spent the last two years not only deepening my understanding of science and math, but also sharing that knowledge with others in ways that make learning less intimidating and more engaging. I’ve served as a mentor and small group leader, helping students with academic and personal challenges, and I’ve led study groups for subjects like biology, chemistry, and varied levels of math. In addition, I’ve been a volunteer tutor with Mission Possible for the past two years, working one-on-one with elementary school students in underserved communities. That experience has strengthened my ability to explain concepts in a simple, clear, and encouraging way—especially when helping younger learners build confidence in foundational skills.

My tutoring approach is built around patience, encouragement, and active engagement. I ask a lot of questions to get students thinking out loud, and I emphasize understanding over memorization. I’ve worked with elementary, high school, and college students, both one-on-one and in small groups, and I especially enjoy working with students who feel like they're “just not a math or science person.” I believe everyone can succeed in these subjects with the right support and mindset, and it’s incredibly rewarding to see that shift happen in real time.
