"I hold a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from the University of Minnesota, where I developed a strong foundation in the life sciences through coursework in genetics, physiology, ecology, and biochemistry. My academic background has prepared me to explain complex biological processes in ways that are clear, engaging, and age-appropriate. I will be matriculating to medical school next summer, which allows me to bring both a scientific and applied understanding of biology and health to my tutoring sessions.
While I have not formally tutored at the elementary or high school level, I have experience tutoring peers in college-level biology and related coursework. I also currently work as a medical scribe trainer in emergency departments, where I teach new scribes how to interpret medical information, manage clinical documentation, and adapt to fast-paced learning environments. This role has given me valuable experience working with individuals who learn in different ways, including visual, auditory, and hands-on learners. It has strengthened my ability to adapt my teaching style to each person’s needs and pace of learning.
As a tutor, I focus on creating an encouraging, curiosity-driven environment where students feel confident exploring new ideas and asking questions. For high school biology, I emphasize understanding over memorization by connecting material to real-world examples, including human biology and healthcare. For elementary science, I aim to nurture excitement about discovery through simple experiments and relatable explanations. My goal is to help each student not only master the material but also develop lasting curiosity and confidence in their ability to learn science." less...
