"I have a physics Ph.D from the University of Vermont with an emphasis in biophysics. Being a specialist in computational biophysics I have to have a broad knowledge base of mathematics, chemistry, theoretical physics and computational physics. I love learning which bloomed into an even greater love of teaching. I not only want to help students learn their desired subject, I want to show them how to become better learners in all aspects. To this day I still work on projects involving student learning at my alma mater. I take extra time to understand a student's individual needs and adjust my tutoring style to meet those needs. Every student learns differently, and so must be taught differently, and with patience, especially when it comes do difficult subjects
I tutored for all four years while I was getting my bachelor's degree and I was hired as a tutor for the university for two and a half years. I have continued tutoring professionally for more than 8 years for a grand total of 12 years total experience. I love to see students learn and finally understand something that they did not before. Passing on my knowledge is one of the greatest gifts I can give, and it is the way I make a positive change in the world. My teaching style revolves around creating a fundamental understanding of the material, fixing bad habits, and helping students avoid common pitfalls. I love giving students resources and I will create custom resources for students tailored to their needs. I do not believe in the common teaching methods of memorization and doing things like a robot. I want students to think about problems and understand problems on a fundamental level so they can go on and do better in whatever they decide to pursue. With AI it is more important than ever for students to be able to understand the difference between correct and wrong answers. AI is a powerful tool, but without a careful eye, it can give false information. My style focuses on giving students that critical eye and deep understanding of the material." less...
