"I have over 10 years' combined experience in teaching high school, college, graduates and postgraduate students in research methodology skills. These skills vary from healthcare research, social sciences, epidemiology and clinical research. I teach various levels; from basic/introductory statistics, biostatistics, statistical software packages to advanced methods such as categorical data analysis, survival analysis, hierarchical modeling and advanced regression techniques. I hold a master's degree in biostatistics and have worked on several US-government funded clinical research projects at Columbia University Medical Center in New York City.

However, my all time passion is teaching. My satisfaction comes from that AHA! moment when a student finally gets a concept or skill. Over the years, I have realized there is a difference between being a subject matter expert and being able to effectively pass on that knowledge to others. Therefore teaching is not for everyone. For me it is something that I both love and am good at. As a result, my students have excelled in the past.

Statistics and biostatistics are subjects that need a strong understanding of its basic tenets and theorems simply because it builds up as you progress. I have a decade of teaching introductory and advanced statistics. As a result of, I am quite aware of the various blind spots that usually throw off students. My approach is to figure out the student's abilities and concepts they struggle with first and learn about the best way to illustrate or teach them. In statistics, there isn't much of memorization compared to application. I teach my students how to apply different tools to tackle problems in different situations. In other words, I offer what the student needs at the right time.

In addition, I explain why specific methods may be chosen over others. It starts off from the very simple; e.g., why choose a t-test instead of ANOVA, or why the Wald test instead of the likelihood ratio test or like why the Bonferonni instead of Turkeys. Stu" less...
