"I am searching for students with a passion for Biology and who want guidance for possible career opportunities!
Have you been amazed by living things ever since you were a young child, always being the first to volunteer for touching animals at zoos and participating in fun science experiments at museum exhibits? Are you unsure what to do with your curiosity and passion, and struggle with applying it to your studies? Not to worry! I hope to help you find direction and purpose where you already have natural interest.
My first experience with tutoring began in high school. I tutored an elementary school girl in math and science with two goals in mind: 1) improve my student’s grades in her math classes and 2) nurture her passion for science so she can apply it to her studies. I am happy to share that student is now a PhD candidate at UC Irvine pursuing her doctorate’s in Cellular and Molecular Biology. You don’t have to follow the same path but if your personal goals are similar, to improve STEM grades and explore the application of your passions, I truly believe I am in the position to help you along your journey.
In high school, I completed the IB Diploma program, including HL Biology courses. I attended Santa Clara University to complete my BS in Biology, minoring in Biotechnology. I was a very involved student at SCU: I received the REAL Grant to fund my internship with Teach Biotech, I was awarded the De Novo Fellowship to fund my research with Dr. Janice Edgerly-Rooks and Dr. Justin Whittall (which resulted in two published papers), and I worked in the academic advising center for 4 years. My heavy involvement and professional relationships are what pushed me forward on my path to become a research scientist and got me to where I am today.
Since graduating in 2020, I have worked in the SF biotech industry for 5 years. My experiences include working in 1) a COVID testing lab, 2) a clinical diagnostics lab focused on markers of genetic diseases, and 3) a drug discovery company." less...
