"Hi there! I am Fox, I am a board certified internal medicine physician. I also have a Bachelor's in biochemistry from Indiana University. I have been tutoring in most science topics for 9 years. I have been a student for so long now, I have found effective ways to teach complicated concepts, as well as learning strategies like spaced repetition that help students learn large quantities of information and then retain that information.

I prefer to take an active teaching approach. When I tutor my students, it is more like a conversation about the topic rather than a lecture. I have the student try and tell me all they can about a topic, this helps me find where their knowledge gaps are. From there, I try and fill those gaps in a few ways such as: leading the student to the answer so they can figure it out themselves, using funny mnemonics, or making up a visual story. Once I feel the student has learned a concept, I leave it alone for 10-15 minutes and then will ask them to explain that concept to me again. This practice, called spaced repetition, is essential for students not forgetting what they've just learned.

When applicable, I teach my students how to use a free flashcard app that uses spaced repetition. This is the app that gets many medical students through medical school. It makes learning vast quantities of information a reasonable task. And best of all its free!

I am patient, relaxed and easy to talk to. I try and make my students feel comfortable so we can discuss their grades or whatever road blocks to success they may have.
