My name is Mrs. W and I have been in the education field for 20+ years. I taught high school Algebra 1, Geometry, and Algebra 2 for 5 years. During one college semester in these 5 years, I taught College Algebra at Maricopa College. Then I moved on to writing and editing math curriculum for online education companies for 15+ years. I am still an Arizona certified teacher.

During these years in the education field, I have tutored online and in-person of mostly middle school age, high school age, and adults. I have also had my own children in homeschooling, which means I have taught elementary age students.

My method for tutoring is to see what issues you want to work on together. While we do this, I will be able to start discovering the topics that are needing extra attention. I have always told my students that as long as you do your part of listening, respecting, working hard, and give your 100%, I promise to do the same on my end. Together we can accomplish anything!

I have a couple of examples that I love to share. One is when I was in the public classroom. A student came to my class who has always failed math and has the attitude that she will never be able to do math. Towards the end of the school year, she was getting As in my class and going around helping her peers in class. Again, I never lowered my standards. All she needed was a little guidance and someone working with what she needed.

My second example is an adult who was older and going back to college. She hates math with a passion, but has to get through college math to move on. I tutor her through her entire math class. She gets As and Bs on her tests and passes the class with an A average. She still doesn't like math, but she is no longer terrified of it and knows that she can do it.
