"While strong conceptual knowledge in a specialty provides an important foundation for success, the ability to communicate clearly, concisely, and persuasively is an invaluable skill. Though you may be a brilliant nuclear physicist, your braininess is of little value to others if you are unable to communicate effectively. Likewise, though you may not be the smartest person in the room, effective communication will give you a notable advantage.

With a well-rounded background in accounting, product management, publishing, and teaching, I have a diverse set of experiences and skills to bring to you. I have a business background, with a BS in Accountancy and an MS in Taxation. My career has spanned an assortment of reputable companies across a variety of industries. I was a tax consultant at Arthur Andersen and a product manager at Amazon. I authored and edited mathematical texts at Scott Foresman-Addison Wesley, and I was a technical content writer at CCH, a provider of information services for lawyers and accountants. I was also adjunct faculty in the academic world, teaching accounting and tax courses to both business and non-business students. I now have a writing, editing, and coaching business called Savant Scribes.

Mark Twain once said, "I didn't have time to write a short letter, so I wrote a long one instead." This quote perfectly encapsulates the writing process. Twain was spot-on; good writing takes time. The more energy you invest in communicating effectively, the greater the rewards. With awareness and practice, effective communication skills can be learned by anyone.
