"Hello! I am a Mechanical Engineering student at Carnegie Mellon University, which is among the best schools in the nation for STEM-related topics. Through my studies, I have completed upper-level classes in Calculus, Precalculus, and Physics, which have improved my skills in analytical reasoning and problem-solving. I have learned how to take complicated topics and break them down into clear, precise steps, which is something I enjoy doing with others. Before I started college, I owned my own tutoring business where I worked with both middle school and high school students in math and science. This experience improved my ability to explain complicated concepts as simply as possible and was rewarding to see students become more confident as they learned material that was once intimidating and overwhelming to them.
As a tutor, I work to meet students where they are. Everyone learns differently, so I work to their strengths, moving slowly through problems, suggesting practice on their own, or reviewing the work together afterwards, explaining where the errors were and what could have changed. I find it important to work towards understanding and confidence. I think not only is it important for a teacher-student relationship knowing how to find an answer, but also important to feel empowered the next time you need to figure something out. I want my students to leave each session feeling just a little more confident in their skills, and with just a little more motivation to keep trying on their own. If you are looking for someone to provide patience, support, and a genuine interest in your success, I would enjoy working with you." less...
