"Hello and welcome! I’m Mrs. D, a certified 4th-grade teacher with a Master’s Degree in Early Childhood Education and more than fifteen years of classroom experience. I began teaching in 2006 with a lively class of 3rd graders and quickly discovered how rewarding it is to help children build confidence through understanding. After stepping away from full-time teaching for several years to raise my three children, I returned to the classroom in 2013 and have taught full time since 2015. These years have given me the privilege of working with a wide range of learners—from early readers finding their voice to upper-elementary students mastering fractions and essay writing.

My educational background includes a B.A. in Special Education with a minor in Elementary Education, and I hold a Washington State K-8 Teaching Certificate. Although this is my first year tutoring through Wyzant, I have spent countless hours providing individualized instruction in small-group and one-on-one classroom settings. My tutoring style blends structure with encouragement. I use hands-on materials, visuals, and real-world examples to make lessons meaningful, and I adjust pacing and strategies to each child’s needs so they can experience steady progress and genuine success.
