During my studies, I profited the most from teachers who respected my needs, interests, and learning style. Therefore, I adapted a personalized teaching approach with a regular focus on all language skills. Additionally, it was important for me to receive instruction within a safe environment where mistakes and questions were part of practice. I valued teachers who provided time for review, critical thinking, and clarification. My lesson plans reflect these educational requirements. Furthermore, I am convinced that authenticity and relevance are key factors for learning. For instance, it is essential to learn about culture and traditions of German speaking countries. In such event, I like to structure my lessons using a thematic approach. Having pursued a certified translator/interpreter program, I often experience common roots and similarities within languages. The latter becomes useful when trying to understand and apply difficult grammar concepts as well as vocabulary.

I taught elementary, middle, and high school level including Advanced Placement German courses within a German International Studies Program for over 20 years. I prepared students for A1, A2, and DSD1 exams. Additionally, I have worked as a private tutor for individuals, small groups, and on a corporate level. As a technology coach, I assisted teachers with a variety of online teaching ideas and resources.
