"Hello, my name is Jacob! I am a proud educator who currently teaches high school chemistry and college chemistry. I am eager to help you on your chemistry journey. I have been a licensed teacher for the last four years with experience teaching biology, earth & space science, chemistry, and dual-credit college chemistry. Prior to my current position, I have taught young learners as a camp educator at a science center and assisted undergrad students as a teaching assistant for general chemistry labs for two years. I received my B.S. in Chemistry (with a minor in Biology) and a B.S. in Secondary Education from Drake University. Then I proceeded to get my M.S. in Chemistry from the University of Missouri-Kansas City.
I enjoy helping students learn new content by making connections to previous learning and everyday life. I love analogies, and I love seeing the 'light bulb' moment when a student makes a novel connection. I focus on helping students identify patterns in concepts or question structures in order to help them be successful in tackling new problems.
I am seeking to improve as an educator and look forward to being exposed to new learning styles and subject curriculums. Thank you for considering me to help you with high school chemistry, honors chemistry, AP chemistry, college chemistry, and other high school math and science subjects. Please let me know if you have additional questions, or if you are interested in scheduling a session!
To help new students feel confident before committing, I offer the first 15 minutes of the first session for free. This can help you determine if my teaching style is a good fit for your needs. This is NOT available for Instant Book bookings." less...
