"Hey, I'm Lainey!
I graduated from the University of Colorado in Colorado Springs with a degree in Inclusive Elementary Education. From there, I moved to Georgia, earned my teaching certificate, and began teaching middle school English at a private school for those with learning disabilities. Teaching, advocating and supporting those with different learning needs is what my passion is, and the reason I got into education in the first place. I love problem solving and figuring out how my students learn so I can best support them, and I am always learning new ways to make ELA and other subjects more accessible to everyone.
In my tutoring and teaching, I use a strengths based approach to build independence and mastery over time. My goal is to communicate complex and challenging topics in a digestible and accessible way, tailored specifically to YOU! I have extensive experience and training in teaching students with ADHD, autism, dyslexia and processing disorders. As a previous middle school teacher, much of my tutoring experience is through grades 6th-8th, though, I do have some experience in tutoring high school and college level students as well. Overall my preferred subject is English, where I can help with everything from reading and writing to essay prep and research. Additionally, I can help with organizational tools and study skills to build the foundation for success in future challenges.
I am flexible, responsive, and always open to suggestions. If it sounds like we would be a great fit, please reach out! I'd love the opportunity to work with you." less...
