"Hello, I’m Heather!

I am a bilingual Korean and English tutor with over 20 years of teaching experience. I was born and raised in South Korea and studied English in British Columbia, Canada, for three years starting in 1997. After returning to Korea, I taught ESL to students ranging from ages 2 to 18 at various language schools. In 2003, I earned my ESL/TESOL certification while living in Victoria, Canada. I later moved to Michigan, where I taught Business Korean to local companies.

Since moving to the East Coast, I’ve worked with a diverse range of students, including middle and high schoolers who need extra support with English, adults looking to build their conversational skills, and learners passionate about Korean language and culture. I adapt my lessons to each student’s unique goals — whether it’s mastering grammar, improving speaking confidence, or understanding cultural nuances.

I pride myself on being patient, understanding, and adaptable. My lessons are thoughtfully organized, creative, and tailored to each student’s unique goals and learning style. Because I learned English myself, I understand how to guide language learners through the challenges of speaking, listening, reading, and writing in a new language. I focus on practical strategies that help students build confidence while making learning enjoyable and rewarding.
