"As a born-and-raised local, I've been involved in the East End community for over 15 years. From volunteer work to consistent tutoring after school and in the summer, being involved in the improvement of those around me has always been something I look forward to. I've been a teacher for 10+ years with the last 8 at Southampton Intermediate School, but have been tutoring for even longer. Since graduating with my Master's degree, I have experience in almost every level of mathematics-- from kindergarten through AP Calculus. In fact, it was peer tutoring in high school that drove me to pursue teaching as a career. The feeling of watching "the lightbulb go on" with a student is what motivates me for each and every session. The one-on-one setting (or small group) allows me to curtail any lesson to a student's individual needs. With my years of experience, I pride myself at being able to pivot to a different form of explanation if a student is struggling. Furthermore, I always avoid the archaic "this is how you do the problem" approach, but rather encourage a discovery-based method that allows students to see "the WHY" in the procedure of a problem.
