My name is Fatima, and I am a certified science teacher in both Canada and the United States. I grew up in Canada and recently moved back to Michigan. I hold a Bachelor of Secondary Education from the University of Alberta with a major in Biological Sciences and a minor in English as a Second Language (ESL). In Canada, I taught for two years at the middle and high school levels, covering a wide range of subjects—including science, social studies, and mathematics—across grades 6 to 12. My true passion, though, has always been the major sciences: biology, chemistry, and physics. Teaching and learning about the natural world is what lights me up the most!

My teaching style is very student-centred and hands-on. I love tapping into each learner’s unique strengths to deepen understanding and keep everyone engaged. Whether it’s project-based learning, exploration through centres, or (my personal favourite) experiments, I believe students learn best when their curiosity is nurtured and paired with real problem-solving. My goal is to help students gain confidence and independence to become highly engaged learners who are excited to discover! As a lifelong learner myself, I’m always trying new skills, picking up new hobbies, and reading everything I can get my hands on. Teaching truly runs in my family—my mother and grandmother were both educators—so I guess you could say it’s in my blood! I’m deeply passionate about education and committed to helping every single student succeed.
