"Being a certified teacher for over thirty years, I have experience with working with students in grades K-8. I have worked in both parochial and public schools in my teaching and tutoring experiences. I was a full-time teacher, and then I became a tutor in a public school when my own children were little. After a few years, I went back into teaching in the classroom full-time, and then when my son was diagnosed with Autism, I became a tutor in the schools.
Tutoring students, whether in the schools or outside of the schools as an independent tutor, is a rewarding, positive experience for me. I enjoy finding out the interests and skills of the student and incorporating those into my lessons. Each student is unique and has the ability to be taught a skill. It's my job as a tutor to provide the strategies for the student to help to learn those skills needed.
I have taken different workshops and courses to learn different strategies, which will benefit the student. Using manipulatives, technology, and a positive math mindset, the students can learn the math skills needed.
I have taken different workshops and courses to learn different strategies for reading. I am also aware of and have used different reading programs, which will benefit the students in their learning of the reading skills.
Being a mother of two children on the Autism Spectrum and having ADHD, I have taken a variety of courses on those topics to help them and my students in my classroom. Currently, I am the Auxiliary Tutor at our school, and I am the person to write and implement the individualize plans for those students diagnosed with special needs.
I would enjoy working with you to help you with your learning new skills. Please schedule some lessons with me." less...
