"Hello! I am a former teacher and certified generalist educator for grades EC-6th with bachelor's degrees in Chemistry and Spanish from Southern Methodist University and Kennesaw State University. Over the last four years, I've tutored a variety of ages and subjects at a private tutoring center and in one-on-one private lessons. My specialty is in high school and college chemistry and math. I have tutored courses in algebra, trigonometry, precalculus, calculus, high school and college general chemistry, quantitative analysis, and others.
Chemistry is a particular passion of mine, and I get really excited talking about it. I've been fortunate to have had excellent instructors who have inspired me to dig deeper into the subject. I have done research in environmental chemistry and physical chemistry/astrochemistry, participated in an undergraduate program with NASA, and worked as a lab assistant and lab technician.
I love helping students understand concepts that were previously confusing or frustrating. I know what an awesome resource a good tutor or teacher can be, so it brings me joy to know I am passing on that gift to others. I emphasize pattern-finding, metacognition, and reasoning in my lessons. This provides students with the tools they need to approach problems confidently and independently. I aim to explain concepts in a way that is accessible to all students. At the same time, I can go into more depth for the student who wants to have a deeper understanding of the topics. I do my very best to mold my lessons to fit students' needs and learning styles, and make them feel comfortable and less anxious." less...
