"Hi! I’m Tryggve - a creative, experienced STEM tutor with a strong background in youth development and playful, inquiry-based learning.

I’m a junior at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, majoring in Biochemistry with minors in Chemistry and Game Studies & Design. I have a 3.76 cumulative GPA (4.00 over the last two semesters). Outside class, I enjoy designing board games, running cross country, and watching clouds drift by.

I’m honored to be an Illinois State Scholar and a recipient of the Bausch + Lomb Honorary Science Award - recognitions that reflect my commitment to academic excellence and scientific curiosity.

I’ve tutored students from elementary through high school in chemistry, math, and biology. My journey began with one-on-one tutoring through the National Honor Society. Since then, I’ve led hands-on science lessons for younger students (lemon volcanoes are a favorite!), supported inquiry-based learning at Riveredge Nature Center, and facilitated play-based tutoring for middle school English learners.

When working with elementary math students, I often use Eedi as a trusted resource - it’s a great tool for identifying gaps, reinforcing key concepts, and making practice more engaging.

My teaching philosophy: STEM is for everyone. I aim to make learning fun, accessible, and empowering - blending playful pedagogy, student-driven exploration, and deeper questioning. My background in game design helps me teach in ways that feel like discovery, not memorization.
