Aside from work-related stuff, I also coach basketball locally. I have tutored in the past in high school, and understand that sometimes it takes longer than expected to learn a topic. I am a patient teacher, and try to make learning if not fun, at least purposeful. I got into coaching because I have a passion for teaching and helping those that I'm teaching improve in a skill and believe in themselves. I find it incredibly rewarding and hope to push the kids that I coach (and tutor) to become better versions of themselves.

Sometimes math can be difficult; sometimes it can be dry. I will do my best to make it easier to learn and interesting. Statistics is very important for everyone to learn, in order to assess change and qualify it as a true or "statistically significant" change. I use statistics everyday at my job, and will do my best to relate algebra and statistics to something that the student may be interested in.

In college, I failed Organic Chemistry 1 the first time...but the second time I took it, I took it with a different teacher who made it interesting and exciting. She gave really interesting examples and took her time giving thorough explanations for each topic. I appreciated that and although it was difficult, I was more motivated to understand and received a B+ at the end of the semester. I hope to make it as enjoyable as I can for the student, and am patient in the process.

I grew up in a Mexican-American family, which means I grew up with the culture, but not with Spanish 100% of the time. Because of that, I had to find other ways to build my vocabulary and become comfortable with speaking the language. I acc" less...
