"Hello, I'm Jake! I graduated with my bachelor's degree in chemistry, and I am pursuing a master's degree in analytical chemistry. I graduated with a 3.5 GPA, four semesters on the Dean's list, and have been awarded the Benkovic summer research grant. As a student, I have seen the impact course instructors have on the quality of the education and how enjoyable the class can be. The instructors who make the class enjoyable engage students, leading to a better understanding of the material. Connecting the lesson to the real world is a great way to keep students interested and engaged, allowing them to see beyond the equations and concepts they work with in class. Being able to apply concepts to the real world is one of the reasons that I love chemistry, and my goal is to share this passion for chemistry with my students.

I have been tutoring peers and those a few years below me since I was an AP chemistry student in high school, tutoring honors chemistry students. I continued tutoring one-on-one during my undergrad, helping at least one student per semester. Eventually, I became a learning assistant to help two classes of 20 students feel more comfortable with chemistry. I am now working as a teaching assistant in analytical chemistry with a class of 40 and a lab of 16 students, as well as for chemical spectroscopy with 8 students. I hold workshops every week where students come to work on practice problems and get personalized feedback to help them succeed in their classes.

I know that every student is unique and has their own learning style, which is why I aim to adjust my teaching style for each student. Before starting lessons, it is essential to identify what students need most and how to best support them in achieving their goals. Any resources or suggestions from students or parents are incredibly beneficial for helping the student succeed. Feel free to message me with any questions or if you would like to schedule a lesson!" less...
