"I hold a Bachelor of Science in Biology from the University of Texas at San Antonio and a Master of Education in Science Education from the University of Houston. I spent 13 years teaching high school chemistry including Chemistry, Pre-AP Chemistry, AP Chemistry, and Organic Chemistry. While there, I was a finalist for Teacher of the Year 2016, 2020, and 2022. I was also awarded The Thomas A. Aczel Award for Outstanding High School Chemistry Teacher in the Greater Houston Area by The American Chemical Society- Greater Houston Chapter.

I did not enjoy science as a whole during my own high school experience—much of it focused on copying notes with little hands-on learning—but in college, I discovered my passion for the life sciences and decided to become a teacher. When my first teaching opportunity was in chemistry, I embraced it, and it opened a whole new appreciation for the subject. Over time, I developed lessons that emphasized curiosity, inquiry, and real-world connections, allowing students to experience a genuine sense of wonder about how the world works. I am skilled at breaking down complex concepts into manageable parts and explaining their true significance, helping learners make meaningful sense of the material.
