"Howdy! My name's Lincoln and I'm available to tutor civics, government, or political science classes, as well as to help with general writing, including academic assignments and college/graduate school essays.
In my day job, I'm a federal employee in the legislative branch of the U.S. government (Congress). I studied political science at New York University (NYU), where I wrote an undergraduate thesis and edited a student-managed, peer-reviewed journal of public policy. I graduated with honors, summa cum laude, and my thesis was awarded best in the Politics Department. I currently take graduate courses in international relations and military strategy at the Naval War College (the staff college of the U.S. Navy).
As a student, I volunteered to teach civics in an NYC high school. Since graduating, I've taught prep classes for the U.S. citizenship exam through a nonprofit organization, helping groups of recent immigrants from all over the world learn about American history, our system of government, civics, and the key concepts required to pass the citizenship exam. I enjoy helping students understand complex political concepts, the reasons behind decisions and events, the strengths and weaknesses in various forms of government, and how academic concepts relate to current affairs.
I'm eager to help you learn about American politics and government, current events, social sciences, or any related field. I'm also a strong writer and editor with experience in academic and professional writing, and I'm available to assist with all sorts of writing assignments. Please feel free to reach out with any questions! I look forward to meeting you." less...
