"Hello, my name is Oscar Herrera. I studied Biological & Agricultural Engineering at Texas A&M University at College Station. I currently work full-time as a Licensed Professional Civil Engineer; however, I have always had a passion for teaching. When I learn something new, the first thing I do is find someone else to teach it to.

In my experience, I have learned that often the reason a student is failing a course is not because the student is unable to understand the material, rather, the student lacks confidence in the subject. My main goal is to help my students achieve a level of confidence in which they can approach any problem with sureness.

One of the most successful methods of teaching is through student participation and interaction. As a kinesthetic/visual learner myself, I believe it is important to explore a students learning style to better assist in achieving comprehension. I am skilled in dissecting material and making it more manageable to work with. Students I have worked with have shown tremendous growth in their struggling subject and benefit greatly from the breakdown of content. I have helped friends and family build their confidence in the following subjects: Math (all levels), Physics (university level), Chemistry (all levels), and Biology (all levels).
