"Studying and traveling in Germany as a young adult in the 1980s, I learned much about life, clarity, focus, and creative approaches to problem-solving. I immersed myself by choice in the culture. For three years, I navigated daily life in Hamburg using mostly only German—and using English only to earn paychecks as a tutor. In this time, bicycle touring in Northern Germany, Poland, France, and Denmark became a passion.

To me, it’s important that spirits stay strong for lifelong learning. Today, my students range from busy professionals who want to learn faster to those in need of short-term help. If German is "your thing" for personal or work-related reasons or for diving deeper linguistically, I can help you become the best writer and second-language learner you can be.

For years, I have helped students of all ages become comfortable with online sessions, long before the current COVID-19 outbreak. We can all enjoy the benefits of flexibility, convenience, “green-ness,” and value in online sessions. I help students from high-school age to retiree to draw upon your own strengths and knowledge. Younger students and special education students benefit as I consult with other experts in the family (one retired, and one special ed teacher with two years' experience) and plan next steps for going forward based on needs.

As we encounter knowledge gaps or misunderstandings, we fill or fix them quickly and move on. For subjects new to you, I first provide an overview, a roadmap. In all cases, to the extent that’s feasible, I tailor tutoring experiences to your needs and build bridges between your learning challenges and your interests.
