"I hold a degree in Computer Science from Nanyang Technological University (NTU) in Singapore. My foundation was strengthened early on when I represented Indonesia in the International Olympiad in Informatics (IOI) in 2005, earning a bronze medal. This experience deepened my problem solving skills, which I continue to apply and teach today.
My tutoring experience began during college (2006–2010) when I served as a coach for Indonesia's national informatics team (TOKI). I conducted regular training sessions and mentored students preparing for both national and international competitions. Since then, I've worked one-on-one with high school and college students, helping them master topics such as data structures, algorithms, programming (Java, Python, C++), and web development. I also work daily with my elementary-aged children, which has taught me how to make abstract concepts more approachable for younger learners.
My teaching approach is tailored to each student's background and learning style. I usually start by identifying gaps in understanding through diagnostic problems or casual discussion. For younger students, I use visual aids or interactive tools to make lessons more engaging. With older students, I connect theory to real-world applications, whether preparing for coding interviews, developing apps, or learning to think algorithmically.
Since 2015, I've worked as a software engineer in Silicon Valley and, more recently, in Seattle's South Lake Union tech hub. This industry experience allows me to give students insight into how computer science is used in the real world, making the material more relevant and motivating." less...
