"Hello! My name is Vanessa and I began tutoring students in English and test preparation in my first year of college. It was then that I immediately developed a passion for teaching and mentoring students. I love connecting with students and learning about how they process information. I am dedicated to providing the most effective strategies to help students succeed academically. I have taught English, reading, and essay writing for middle, high school and college students. I have a Bachelor's degree in English and a Master's in Educational Administration. I really enjoy helping students prepare for standardized tests (e.g., ACT/SAT, NCLEX, GMAT, GRE) by helping them understand their learning style preferences and how to better manage their time while studying.

My methods include combining cognitive learning concepts and student feedback to develop innovative and exciting ways to enhance writing skills and prepare for tests. I strive to empower students to utilize their strengths to enhance their areas of need. One of the most fulfilling moments in tutoring is sharing in the student’s success. I always encourage students to maximize their abilities and I provide positive feedback when they reach new milestones. In sum, my ultimate goal is to encourage students to explore ways to succeed through practice, determination and confidence.

I am available for sessions Monday through Thursday from 4pm-8pm CST and Saturday and Sunday from 9am to 5pm CST. I am also available on Instant Book to begin sessions 30 minutes after request.
