"I’ve spent over twenty years working directly with students and families in tutoring, test prep, and college admissions. I earned my degree in Political Theory and Philosophy from UCLA and later completed UCLA’s College Counseling Certificate program. For sixteen years I also ran a regional tutoring and test prep company that I eventually sold, which gave me a practical understanding of what actually helps students improve and what tends to waste time. I’m also a parent myself, with one child currently in middle school and another who is a high school junior preparing for the SAT/ACT and navigating the college admissions process. I’m living this from both sides.
Most of the students I work with are bright and capable, but they’re often overwhelmed, under-structured, or unsure how academic systems and admissions really operate. I don’t believe in generic advice or one-size-fits-all plans. I focus on helping students understand what they’re doing, why they’re doing it, and how to make better choices—whether that means strengthening academic skills, preparing for tests, or approaching college planning with clarity instead of stress. The same questions and concerns I hear from families are the ones I’m dealing with in my own home, which keeps my work practical and grounded in real life.
My approach is direct, thoughtful, and shaped by long experience and genuine care for the students I work with. I take this process seriously because I know how much it matters to both students and parents. If you’re looking for someone who will meet you where you are, be honest about what matters, and support your goals with clarity and respect, I’d be glad to talk and see if we’re a good fit." less...
