"As a professional writer and editor, I understand the importance of crafting an attention grabbing, one-in-a-million personal statement. With top-tier schools receiving over 50,000 applications a year, it's more important than ever to develop an essay that will resonate with admission officers -- a process in which I have years of experience.

My clients have been admitted to colleges including Harvard, Brown, University of Pennsylvania, Stanford, Duke, Columbia, Princeton, as well as the Wharton School and Harvard Business School. My clients in the public arts sphere have won prestigious grants and awards, including the Guggenheim Foundation Fellowship.

My approach to personal statement writing is centered on developing your voice. I aim to help you build the connective tissue between your resume items and accomplishments, and craft language that exemplifies your unique experiences and perspectives. I am excited to provide not only strategic insights into the admissions process, but also editorial guidance when it comes to conceptualizing, writing, and finalizing an attention-grabbing personal statement. I enjoy every step of my process -- from the introductory stages of threading together past accomplishments and experiences into a narrative, all the way to finalizing word choice and punctuation.

As a graduate of Brown University's Literary Arts program, I am skilled in editing first person voice and narrative nonfiction. I have published fiction and nonfiction, as well as optioned original feature screenplays. Fellowships from institutions such as MacDowell and The Orchard Project have helped me to better master the craft of voice-driven writing. Throughout my five years of tutoring college, graduate and PhD applicants in New York City and Portland, Oregon, I have become adept at channeling a diverse array of voices into compelling personal statements.

While I am new to Wyzant, I have many years of experience in my field, and am excited to share my insights with new clients!" less...
