"Hi, I’m Mimi! I love helping college applicants craft compelling essays that will give them an edge in the admissions process. I’m a professional writer and editor with a passion for teaching. I also have experience evaluating undergraduate applications for an Ivy League university and master’s-level applications for a top-ranked public university.
The college application process is exciting and daunting. It can be challenging to handle the pressure of writing when the stakes are so high, and it can feel overwhelming to try to narrow your whole self into one 650-word personal statement. It’s a joy for me to support students as they discover the stories they want to tell and create application essays they feel proud to have written.
I work with applicants at any stage of the writing process, from initial brainstorming through drafting and revision to final editing and polishing. I can help you tackle your Common App essay as well as your school-specific supplemental essays. I focus on providing support, encouragement, and powerful constructive feedback. My top priority is to ensure that when you submit your applications, you feel that you’ve been true to yourself: that you’ve spoken authentically and bravely, in your own voice. I also offer strategic insight into how to address specific prompts and questions effectively, how to manage tone, and how to use storytelling techniques to capture and hold your reader’s attention.
I graduated summa cum laude from Princeton University with a degree in English and a certificate in Creative Writing. I hold an MFA from the Michener Center for Writers, where I was a James A. Michener Fellow. I've published personal essays and fiction, served as deputy editor for a nationally renowned literary magazine, and been awarded several prestigious writing fellowships." less...
