"I'm Jakob, a graduate from UCLA with a BA with highest honors in History and Political Science and a current JD candidate at Berkeley Law School. Over five years of coaching students applying for undergraduate and professional graduate programs, I've embraced a method of individualized tutoring and support that emphasizes the needs and strengths of students.

Through all my work with applicants, I emphasize the significance of the story they craft. I often tell new students to approach the application like a collage of stories and the whole admissions process as an opportunity to put their best selves forward. My role is to support them in doing so; in finding their voice, and in nailing the narrative.

Aside from admissions coaching, I work with undergraduates to deepen their understandings of literary and historical texts and specialize in nineteenth- and twentieth-century US history. I have revised a number of theses across the humanities and social sciences and enjoy the opportunities I have to help think through complex scholarly questions.
