"I’m Nathan M., originally from California, but live in Hawai’i now. I’ve done a lot of schooling where I completed my AA, BA and Master’s as well as a teaching credential program. Currently, I am an English lecturer at Hawai’i Community College where I teach both online and face-to-face composition and reading courses to high schoolers and adults. Since 2015, I have been teaching comp and advanced comp at several colleges and universities to students with a wide variety of ages, cultures, and skill levels. While working at American River College, I worked in the Writing Across Curriculum program where I worked individually with a vast array of students to help them on assignments and found, not only was this helpful for them, I enjoyed the one-on-one approach of teaching instead of the stress of the classroom.

As a college teacher and a published writer, I understand that writing is hard. We make it even harder when we expect perfection from a first draft or have a bad attitude. With each student, understanding and managing expectations, embracing the writing process, and breaking down the writing steps are keys to improving.

By providing a relaxed learning environment, I guide students on writing assignments, writing basics & grammar, reading skills, literature, and anything related to writing.
