"I developed my strength in mathematics at a young age, and it has remained one of my strongest academic skills throughout my education. After completing a dual-enrollment program in high school and earning my Associate’s degree, I continued my studies at Stockton University, where I am now working toward my bachelor’s degree in finance. My coursework has given me a solid foundation in algebra, statistics, and higher-level problem-solving, and being an active student allows me to connect well with learners who may be struggling with the same topics I once faced. Because I was always the person classmates came to for help, I learned early on how to explain concepts clearly, patiently, and in a way that fits the student’s pace.
My experience tutoring has mostly taken place in one-on-one settings with peers and younger students, where I focus on breaking down problems into simple, understandable steps. I’ve worked with middle-school and high-school students who needed support in areas like algebra and basic geometry, and I found that meeting students where they are is the most effective approach. I try to understand how they think, what confuses them, and what examples will make a concept “click,” because every learner needs something a little different. This method has helped students gain confidence and realize that math is not something to fear but something they can master with the right guidance.
I am passionate about helping younger students because I remember how important it was for me to have someone who believed in my ability to succeed. Math has always been the subject I enjoyed most, and teaching it feels natural to me. My goal as a tutor is not just to help students solve problems but to help them understand why the methods work, so they can become confident, independent learners." less...
