"My name is Gaelen, I am currently an undergraduate upperclassman at Wake Forest University majoring in Chemistry. I have tutored mostly freshman and sophomores for one semester at my university and was a teacher’s assistant for one general chemistry summer course. I work directly with students who need help in their chemistry courses. I mostly specialize in organic chemistry, but I also help students with first semester general chemistry. I work at a tutoring center located in the chemistry department at my university. Tutoring is in person, sometimes 1-to-1 and sometimes in small groups. I help students with complex homework problems and understand difficult concepts so that they may feel less stressed and more caught up in their classes.

My amazing professors have inspired me to expand my chemistry knowledge to students outside of my university. I want to help as many as I can to the best of my abilities. Organic chemistry has always been my most proficient subject, and there is nothing that I love more than teaching it to others. I try to help students by giving them any knowledge and available resources that I have that may benefit them.

A good organic chemistry teacher possesses several key qualities and skills that contribute to effective teaching. Since it is a very conceptually heavy course, adaptability and constant assessments are crucial for proper learning in the subject. My goal is not only to help students with their questions, but also prepare them on how to tackle and approach complex problems.
