"Hi! I'm Dr. Violet P., and I'm available to tutor undergraduate students in physics and mathematics. I received my doctorate in plasma physics from the University of California, Irvine in 2024, and completed my undergraduate studies in physics at Northeastern University.
I have many years of teaching and tutoring experience - during my time at Northeastern, I was a two-year undergraduate teaching fellow and was honored with the Lawrence Award for Excellence in Teaching as the highest-rated teaching fellow in my cohort. As part of my graduate degree, I completed a seminar course on teaching physics and taught multiple levels of physics discussions and lab sections, as well as holding a well-attended weekly help session at the physics help center.
I work with college students of all levels, having taught physics and mathematics to physics and engineering majors, life science students, and others. My tutoring approach focuses on ensuring conceptual mastery, using problem-solving as a primary tool to assess and strengthen a student’s understanding of the material. I recognize that different students have different learning styles; while some prefer to dive straight into the math, others benefit from visual aids and diagrams, and I tailor my approach accordingly.
My specialties include classical mechanics, electrodynamics, and plasma physics, although I'm capable of teaching at the undergraduate level in all physics disciplines. I am dedicated to helping students build a deep understanding of these complex topics and gain the confidence to succeed in their studies." less...
