"Hello!

I'm a former teacher and have worked with students of all ages. I have worked in all levels of education and with students from the US, Mexico, and Japan! I love sharing my love of math, and my love of the Japanese language and culture to all eager learners.

For all students:

I have a way of making students feel comfortable and usually find some way we can relate their personal interests in their studies. I love showing students that they can do things they thought they previously couldn't! Not only can I help you with specific subjects like Math or Japanese, but I have many years of experience as an academic adviser and can help you with your study skills in general and help you become a stronger and more confident student.

I have taught Algebra 1 and Geometry at the high-school level and have tutored students from Pre-K -12.

Do you HATE math? Are you NOT a math person? I can help! I know it may sound corny, but I have had many student tell me that I've converted them, or at least have helped them hate it less :) I LOVE helping students who formerly thought they "can't do math" or "are NOT math people" by showing them the skills and strategies they need to succeed in the classroom. I like to use a combination of math games, practice and mini-projects to help students get deeper understanding of the lesson at hand. I also offer homework help, and can help you go back over the lesson from class.

If you're interested in getting help with Japanese:

I am half-Japanese and I was born in Japan, and have lived there off and on throughout my life. I have a Minor in Japanese Studies and have completed through JPN 415 at the University of Arizona. I am also a host to a Japanese Language Meetup Group here in Tucson. I'll admit I am NOT a 100% fluent speaker, and I do NOT know all 2,136 kanji, but I'm working on it :)
