"Hi there! I'm Gianna and I graduated in Spring 2021 magna cum laude from the College of the Holy Cross with a Computer Science major, and Physics and Art History minors. I have three years of experience teaching introductory Python to high school students-- and even created my own six week curriculum for undergraduate students with no programming experience to learn Python. I've found that the most challenging, but interesting part of teaching is trying to understand how the student is viewing the problem, and to meet them where they're at and break the problem down into bits that make sense to them. Sometimes you need to explain the same concept several ways before it clicks-- but it's so great to see when it does!
I especially love teaching/working with programming. I remember how powerful I felt when I wrote my first program, and watching students light up when they write their "Hello, World!" program has gotten me into three years of teaching high school students and undergraduate, CS and non-CS students alike.
I am an outstanding computer science tutor because I have experience teaching Python concepts to students as young as third grade, and have extensive experience with high school age students. I've developed my own curriculum, and through experience have learned several approaches to make programming seem straightforward and manageable. I currently work as a software engineer, so I get practice programming and learn something new every day, which will help me grow with you!!
Please feel free to reach out to me if you have any questions! I would absolutely love to get to know you, meet you where you're at, and help you grow your skills. I really care about dispelling the anxiety associated with STEM, (especially as a woman in STEM). I have a passion for helping you breaking down any barrier you may feel you have holding you back from excelling in CS, and showing you why I love it so much!" less...
