"Hi I am Lisa! I am a current Computer Science (major) and Philosophy (minor) freshman at the University of Massachusetts Amherst in the honors program! I have a certification in Artificial Intelligence and spend my time building my own AI models and learning new programming languages. I have had a few years experience with tutoring and teaching! I worked for three years as a Sunday School teacher where I worked with children ages 3-5 on their reading and writing skills, and have volunteered to tutor classmates and friends in both english and programming throughout high school. I am currently in the application process in college to work as a writing tutor in our writing center, and to be a teaching assistant/instructor for introductory computer science courses.

I bring a "you first" approach to tutoring and teaching that helps me get a read on where the students are with their comprehension of the topic. I let them explain their though processes first and work from there on how to move forward or what can be improved. I make and design my own lesson plans and study guides as well as guide students on memorization techniques and helpful study habits. I try to make lessons fun and engaging with personalized questions and content. For example, I walked a big Taylor Swift fan through understanding words in a challenging novel by comparing them to some of her songs, and helped a swimmer understand data structures by comparing them to different strokes and events. I always give students practice questions to consider working on at home if they need extra help.
