"Hello, I’m Kaela, a teacher of English as a Second Language. I hold a Master's Degree of Education in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages from the University at Buffalo, The State University of New York, and a New York State Teaching Certification in English for Speakers of Other Languages. I also have certificates in teaching English from The Pennsylvania State University and The Arizona State University. I have been teaching and tutoring for many years. In 2014, I taught sheltered instruction English classes at The University of Otavalo in Otavalo, Imbabura, Ecuador. In 2016, 2017, and 2018, I was a visiting English Language Lecturer at Xi'an Jiaotong University in Xi'an, Shaanxi, China, where I taught English immersion classes to university freshmen. My experience also includes private tutoring in the United States; I have served as a one-on-one tutor in many subject areas including English language instruction, basic mathematics, and General Equivalency Diploma exam preparation. I am also multilingual and proficient in many languages, including French, Spanish, and Italian.

I also tutor non-native speakers (ESL) in writing and speaking. In this capacity, I provide instruction on pronunciation, word order and verb tense. I assist non-native speakers in improving their communication (conversation) skills and in mastering the American accent.

Furthermore, I offer copy editing and proofreading services for native English speakers and people who speak English as a second language. I have extensive experience editing dissertations, thesis papers, published research articles, grant proposals, and resumes or CVs.
