"I'm Regan! Nice to meet you, and thanks for visiting my profile. I graduated from Boston University with a Bachelor's degree in Psychology and Philosophy, and currently work as a registered behavior technician for young people, (ages 2-12), with learning differences and/or Autism Spectrum Disorder. I specialize in all things related to language arts, teaching children at the elementary school level, and working with neurodivergent young people.
If there is one thing that I have learned throughout my educational and professional career, it is that all individuals learn differently. Oftentimes, I have seen and experienced how widespread a one-size-fits-all approach to education is at each level of schooling. Many students, myself included, find this generalized approach to be lacking in regard to truly acquiring, retaining, and subsequently applying meaningful knowledge, and I seek to remedy this dilemma by providing an individualized teaching plan for each person who I have the opportunity to learn with.
I hope to foster an environment of collaboration and equity by building rapport with every learner, encouraging and always engaging with student inquiries and remarks, and maintaining a flexible lesson schedule that meets important deadlines while allowing room for changes. I want each person to know that the ultimate goal of our lessons is for them to enjoy the learning process, and for us to find the most effective method of learning for them.
I have been working one-on-one as a behavior technician with children ages 2-12 since August 2023. Working with these children has given me a lot of experience of creating and using individualized lesson plans across a wide and varying range of social and academic topics. When at school with these children, I provide specialized help through in-depth and inventive explanations of school topics, visuals when needed for more challenging concepts, and by being the student's personal cheerleader throughout the day." less...
