"I have a Master's in Teaching English as a Second Language (TESOL) and Bachelor's degree in art education. I am a certified New York State ESL teacher. I have taught for 6 1/2 years in public schools as an ESL teacher working with students ages K-5. I have been teaching English as a Foreign language since March 2020. I have loved being able to do this online. I love getting to share culture and language with others, and learning from my students in return.I love sharing my joy of learning with students. I try to focus my teaching on student interests, whenever possible. Sometimes this means that I focus reading on a particular subject or focus writing on a particular genre. Other times I have turned the subject into an interactive game through gamification! I have designed lessons around mysteries and even Harry Potter! I have worked with students from all over the world and at all different levels in their English. I have experience not only as a teacher, but as a student of another language as well. I know the hard work that goes into learning another language.

I have a degree in art education. As a public school teacher, I helped run an art club where we worked on drawing skills. I work with many homeschool students to teach them the elements and principles of art as well as art history. During those classes we work with a variety of mediums including pencil, charcoal, watercolor, polymer clay, marker, colored pencil, and ink. I have worked with several students on portfolio prep for various private schools and colleges.

I am a professional portrait artist and regularly work on pet and people portraits for clients. My portraits are realistic graphite pencil drawings. I enjoy exploring different styles and techniques in drawing. I have been tutoring drawing here on Wyzant since November 2020. I specialize in teaching skills in graphite drawing of still life, landscape and figure.
