"Hi, I’m Sean! I’m a graduate of Fordham University, where I earned my Bachelor’s degree in Theatre Performance and a minor in Medieval Studies. I’m passionate about literature, history, art, and accessible education.
I started my journey towards becoming an educator while still in high school, when I began student teaching at a local elementary school during my lunch hour. After graduating college, I worked for a professional tutoring business where I specialized in children’s literacy and SAT Reading and Writing prep. I gained experience supporting students one-on-one and in small-group settings, including those with ADHD and other neurodiverse learning styles.
While the company’s structured and prewritten lesson plans were excellent for my training, I was inspired to begin working independently in order to have more creative freedom to adapt and tailor my lessons to better fit each student’s unique needs and interests.
Most recently, I was an Art Instructor at a creative arts summer program based in Washington, DC. I designed and led several six-week classes that combined art, history, and hands-on projects for students ages 8 to 15. I loved my time there and hope to bring what I’ve learned into my tutoring.
My goal is for every session to be relaxed, enjoyable, and conversational, so that learning feels natural and fun rather than stressful. I encourage my students’ curiosity about the subjects we discuss and appreciate the opportunity to make connections between topics.
I am offering tutoring in American and World History, English Literature, SAT Reading and Writing prep, essay writing and editing. However, I am flexible when it comes to researching and tutoring related topics. Please feel free to contact me with any questions or to schedule a free consultation." less...
