Hi! My name is Samantha, but you can call me Sam! I just graduated from Hofstra University with a BA in Drama and English (concentration in Creative Writing), and a Musical Theatre minor. I am extremely passionate about both performing and language arts, and I want nothing more than for my students to gain more confidence and succeed, no matter what that might look like for them!

Outside of my studies, I teach dance in New York City part-time. I have been teaching children from ages 2-12 tap dancing for about three years now, including choreographing competitive numbers that ended up winning regional competitions. Although I push my students to be the best they can be, I use a warm and understanding approach when teaching. I think it is extremely important to remind my students that all they need to do is try their very best, even if their best looks different from other students. I believe in creating a bond of trust with my students so that they feel comfortable and motivated to complete their work in the most productive way they can. I love to incorporate fun during my lessons, and I also make sure that discipline is there as well.

I am not a traditional school teacher, but I strongly believe that I would make a valuable tutor, as I am not only skilled with teaching and connecting with children, but because I only recently completed my pre-collegiate schooling. I have a firm grasp on what K-12 education entails, especially when it comes to reading and writing, and am enthusiastic to contribute to learning and success! Thank you for your consideration.
