"Hello! My name is Elana, and I'm a TEFL-certified English teacher with a B.A. in Creative Writing and Playwriting/Screenwriting from SUNY Purchase. In addition to writing an extensive portfolio of creative work, the bulk of my education consisted of editing and critiquing the work of my peers in writing workshops for fiction, plays, and screenplays. My background working for literary publications has given me proficient editing skills. If you are looking for help writing an essay (including college application essays), writing a short story or a play/screenplay, or just need help with your English class, I have the skills and the passion to guide you through it!

I am also qualified to tutor ESL students. I received my TEFL (Teaching English as a Foreign Language) certificate in January 2022, and have been teaching English to 5th-8th graders at a school in Budapest, Hungary since August 2021. This experience has broadened my teaching skills to include conversational English, reading, writing, and grammar geared towards learning English as a foreign language. I graduated cum laude from SUNY Purchase College with a B.A. in Creative Writing & Playwriting/Screenwriting. I am the recipient of The Ginny Wray Senior Prize in Fiction (2020) and the Ginny Wray Prize in Fiction (2018), both awarded by the SUNY Purchase Creative Writing Program. My fiction and poetry has been published in several literary journals, and I also have an extensive background working as an editor for literary journals, including an editorial internship at The Hudson Review.
